FLAME PROGRESS REPORT
Preface:
What has been accomplished has been done through God's strength, wisdom
and in His timing. We are only the instruments He has chosen to use.
FLAME Goals and Objectives in Guinea Bissau for 2007 and 2008
- Construct security wall around the campus in 2006 and 2007.
- Send another container in 2008 with tools and equipment for sewing, computer and construction classes.
These classes will include plumbing, electrical (including solar electricity), masonry and carpentry.
- Continue Auto Mechanic classes.
- Start sewing classes in the first part of 2008.
- Make preparations for computer classes.
Accomplishments through September 2007
- First second and third auto mechanics class completed.
- Security wall started.
- Generator hut completed.
- Sewing instructor obtained.
- Sewing machines, fabric and supplies for sewing class, auto mechanics equipment, garden seeds, medical supplies, missionary supplies as well as toothbrushes, toothpaste etc. sent in container.
- Endowment committee started.
Accomplishments in 2004 through October
- Website revamped and updated.
- Two regional representatives are in place: Eastern Washington and South Bend Indiana.
- On March 3, a presentation was made to 34 churches of the Christian Reformed Church Classis Pacific Northwest.
- Four Rotary Clubs in Western Washington were contacted appealing for the humanitarian aspect of our mission.
- Close to $27,000 has been received in contributions this year to date.
- Headquarters house construction is complete.
- Overseer for the shipping container project has been working.
- Tools and supplies for Sewing and Auto Mechanics classes collected in three churches, one business, and from individuals.
- A 20 foot shipping container was sent on September 17, to arrive October 26 2004. It has the tools and supplies given by the churches etc. for the auto mechanic and sewing classes as well as the furniture for the headquarters/missionary house, over $30,000 worth of medical supplies and 16 boxes of dehydrated food for humanitarian aid.
- Missionaries Herb and Martha Reynolds will be in Guinea Bissau until April 15, 2005.
FLAME Goals and Objectives in Guinea Bissau for 2005 9/30/04
Goals:
- Finish Jesus' Industrial School basic construction and start teaching sewing and auto mechanics classes in October 2005. Continue to effectively communicate to supporters and prospective supporters FLAME's needs in Guinea Bissau. Focus on broadening and strengthening FLAME's basis of support.
Objectives:
- Complete headquarters house to include a guard hut and furnishings for two guest bedrooms.
- Write script and take photos and video shots for a new video.
- Finish the basic construction of Jesus' Industrial School and construct security wall around the campus.
- Establish a job description for Tiago for 2005 and start his full time employment January 1, 2005.
- Establish curriculum for sewing and auto mechanics classes and tuition fees.
- Select instructors for sewing and auto mechanics classes and determine salaries.
- Determine equipment, materials and supplies needed to ship in container for 2005.
- Establish a working relation with the Bank of Guinea Bissau.
- Evaluate the continuing need to own and operate our truck.
- Determine person(s) to disciple and start doing so.

- Children's brochure about FLAME made and distributed.

- Tools and supplies for Sewing and Auto Mechanics classes are being
collected in three churches and one business.
- Two regional representatives are in place: Eastern Washington and

- Follow up letters were mailed to each church.
- Follow up phone calls were made after letters were sent.
- Information was sent to six churches upon request.

for the humanitarian aspect of our mission.
- Headquarters house construction is 75% complete.
- $10,674 has been received in contributions this year to date.
Things to work on and accomplish June - December 2004
- Have Vice President or President trained and in place to lead FLAME.
- Have Treasurer trained and in place
- Continue to build volunteer organization.
- Create humanitarian brochure.

- Finalize electrical system requirements for headquarters house

Projected tasks and projections for 2005
- Finalize Class curriculum for Sewing and Auto Mechanics classes
- Develop an operational budget for first year of Jesus' Industrial

- Determine tuition schedule and payment policy
- Establish public relations and advertising program
- Select instructors and set up training program
- Develop policy statement to be signed by each student/parent stating
our Christian policies.
- Develop policy for selecting students for admission (entrance exam?
Placement exam?)
- Determine other positions required to operate school e.g. onsite
guards, janitors, etc.
- Study feasibility of an individual student educational grant program
by U.S. sponsors
- Develop policy on saleable services and products completed by students

Accomplishments in 2003:
- Staging trip to Guiné Bissau by Herb and Martha January

- Drawings/Plans for headquarters house and office completed.
- Drawings/Plans for Jesus' Industrial School completed.
- Drawings/Plans for Jesus' High School completed.
- Construction costs established for these three facilities.
- Basic curriculum format and equipment/tool needs established for Sewing
and Auto Mechanics classes.
- Headquarters house construction 60% complete.
- Jesus' Industrial School foundation in, construction 10% complete.
- Six ton truck received in Guiné Bissau.
- Sent out three quarterly newsletters, "Flaming News" to supporters,
family and friends.
- Board of Directors revamped.
- Articles of Incorporation expanded.
- By-laws established.
- Core values and Statement of Faith adopted.
- Operations in Guiné Bissau include Guinean Director and
Canchungo Representative.
- Promotional materials expanded to include:
- Video/DVD 4½ minute presentation of work in Guiné Bissau.

Accomplishments in 2001:
- A six ton truck was purchased in Portugal.
- A bookkeeping position was established and filled.
- A grant committee was appointed.
- $17,221 was received in contributions.
Accomplishments in 2000:
- FLAME was incorporated in the state of Washington on June 14.
- Martha spent six months in Guiné Bissau, researching, surveying
needs and learning the language and something of the culture.
- A charter board of six directors was started.
- Initial Articles of Incorporation were established.
